About the book
Arsène Lupin by Maurice Leblanc is a public-domain classic. In Passage you read the full text in the original French, marked intermediate and filed under mystery and crime and thriller and suspense.
A thief who leaves his calling card. A detective who never gives up. Nine impossible crimes.
A wireless message reaches the liner La Provence in mid-Atlantic: Arsène Lupin is on board, travelling under a false name. The gentleman burglar of a thousand disguises, who robs only châteaux and salons and once left a card promising to return "when the furniture is genuine", could be any of the elegant passengers gathered around the dazzling Miss Nelly Underdown.
This is the collection that started it all. In nine stories Lupin is caught, plans a robbery from his prison cell, keeps the dogged Inspector Ganimard on his toes and finally crosses paths with a certain English detective called Herlock Sholmès. Along the way come "The Queen's Necklace", "The Seven of Hearts" and "The Black Pearl".
Maurice Leblanc's charming rogue became France's answer to Sherlock Holmes and still inspires books, films and the hit series Lupin.

Reading Arsène Lupin in Passage
Passage sets the book as a quiet, paginated reader in French. Read at your own pace, and when a sentence stops you, tap it. You get:
- a natural translation of that exact sentence,
- a short note on the grammar, in plain words,
- the key words, which you can save with the sentence they came from,
- all of it in English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Turkish or Portuguese, whichever you read best.
It's marked intermediate: comfortable once everyday French feels familiar, with the harder sentences one tap away. The words you save come back later in short review games, so the book keeps teaching after you close it.
