About the book
Le avventure di Pinocchio. Storia di un burattino by Carlo Collodi was first published in 1883. In Passage you read the full text in the original Italian, marked beginner and filed under children and fantasy.
Once upon a time there was... a king? No. A piece of wood. And it could talk.
When the carpenter Master Cherry raises his axe over an ordinary log, a tiny voice begs him not to hit so hard. He hastily hands it over to his poor old friend Geppetto, who carves it into a puppet and names him Pinocchio. Before his feet are even finished, the puppet is kicking; moments later he is racing off down the street.
Pinocchio means well, but he can never resist a shortcut. He brushes off the Talking Cricket's warnings, sells his new schoolbook to see a puppet show, and falls in with the Fox and the Cat, two swindlers with their eyes on his gold coins. Only the Fairy with Turquoise Hair seems to believe he can become the boy he dreams of being.
Carlo Collodi's story of 1883 is one of the most translated books in the world, and its long-nosed hero has inspired countless films, from Disney's to Guillermo del Toro's.

Reading Le avventure di Pinocchio. Storia di un burattino in Passage
Passage sets the book as a quiet, paginated reader in Italian. Read at your own pace, and when a sentence stops you, tap it. You get:
- a natural translation of that exact sentence,
- a short note on the grammar, in plain words,
- the key words, which you can save with the sentence they came from,
- all of it in English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Turkish or Portuguese, whichever you read best.
It's marked beginner, so it's a good first whole book if you know the basics of Italian and want something you can finish. The words you save come back later in short review games, so the book keeps teaching after you close it.
