About the book
L'île au trésor by Robert Louis Stevenson was first published in 1883. In Passage you read the full text in French, marked intermediate and filed under children and young adult.
A dead pirate's map. A ship full of strangers. An island at the edge of the chart.
Young Jim Hawkins helps his parents run the Admiral Benbow, a lonely inn on the English coast, until an old sea captain with a sabre scar and a heavy sea chest moves in. He drinks rum, roars out sea songs and keeps a nervous watch on the road. When sinister visitors come looking for him, Jim ends up holding the thing they want most: the map to Captain Flint's buried treasure.
Squire Trelawney and Doctor Livesey fit out a schooner, the Hispaniola, and Jim sails from Bristol as cabin boy. But not everyone on board is what they seem, least of all the cheerful one-legged ship's cook, Long John Silver.
Robert Louis Stevenson's 1883 adventure gave us almost everything we picture when we think of pirates, from treasure maps to the dreaded black spot. Here you can enjoy it in French.

Reading L'île au trésor in Passage
Passage sets the book as a quiet, paginated reader in French. Read at your own pace, and when a sentence stops you, tap it. You get:
- a natural translation of that exact sentence,
- a short note on the grammar, in plain words,
- the key words, which you can save with the sentence they came from,
- all of it in English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Turkish or Portuguese, whichever you read best.
It's marked intermediate: comfortable once everyday French feels familiar, with the harder sentences one tap away. The words you save come back later in short review games, so the book keeps teaching after you close it.
