About the book
The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald was first published in 1925. In Passage you read the full text in the original English, marked advanced and filed under historical fiction.
One summer on Long Island. Champagne, jazz, and a green light across the bay.
In 1922, young Nick Carraway moves East to sell bonds and rents a small house in West Egg, next door to a mansion where enormous parties roar every weekend. The host is Jay Gatsby, a man whose fortune and past are the subject of endless rumour, and whom most of his guests have never actually met.
Across the water live Nick’s cousin Daisy and her rich, brutish husband, Tom Buchanan. As Nick is drawn into both worlds, he begins to see that Gatsby’s dazzling life has been built around a single hope, and that the past may be harder to win back than any fortune.
Published in 1925, F. Scott Fitzgerald’s short, glittering novel is the defining portrait of the Jazz Age and the American Dream, filmed many times, most famously with Robert Redford and Leonardo DiCaprio.

Reading The Great Gatsby in Passage
Passage sets the book as a quiet, paginated reader in English. Read at your own pace, and when a sentence stops you, tap it. You get:
- a natural translation of that exact sentence,
- a short note on the grammar, in plain words,
- the key words, which you can save with the sentence they came from,
- all of it in English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Turkish or Portuguese, whichever you read best.
It's marked advanced, with richer vocabulary and longer sentences. If it feels heavy, start with an intermediate English book and come back to it. The words you save come back later in short review games, so the book keeps teaching after you close it.
