About the book
Aventures d'Alice au pays des merveilles by Lewis Carroll was first published in 1865. In Passage you read the full text in French, marked beginner and filed under children and fantasy.
A White Rabbit with a pocket watch runs past, muttering that he is late. Alice follows him down the hole.
Bored beside her sister on a hot afternoon, Alice tumbles into a world where nothing behaves as it should. One bottle makes her shrink, one cake makes her grow, animals argue with her, and every polite question gets a ridiculous answer.
Along the way she meets a Caterpillar smoking a hookah on top of a mushroom, the grinning Cheshire Cat, the Hatter and the March Hare at their never-ending tea party, and a furious Queen of Hearts who wants everyone's head cut off. Through it all, Alice tries hard to keep her temper, her manners and her sense of who she is.
This is the classic 1869 French translation of Lewis Carroll's masterpiece, with its puns, songs and nonsense poems playfully recreated in French. A delight for children and grown-ups alike.

Reading Aventures d'Alice au pays des merveilles in Passage
Passage sets the book as a quiet, paginated reader in French. Read at your own pace, and when a sentence stops you, tap it. You get:
- a natural translation of that exact sentence,
- a short note on the grammar, in plain words,
- the key words, which you can save with the sentence they came from,
- all of it in English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Turkish or Portuguese, whichever you read best.
It's marked beginner, so it's a good first whole book if you know the basics of French and want something you can finish. The words you save come back later in short review games, so the book keeps teaching after you close it.
